What are Dental
Implants and what can they do for me?

A dental
implant is an artificial tooth root placed into your jaw to hold a
replacement crown or bridge in place. The treatment can be more
conservative than traditional bridgework, since implants do not rely on
neighboring teeth for support. Dental implants restorations are so
natural-looking and feeling that you may forget you ever lost a
tooth. Dental implants can be the best solution to the problem of
missing teeth. Since dental implants integrate into the structure of
your bone, they can prevent the bone loss and gum recession that
often accompanies bridgework and dentures. No one will ever know
that you have a replacement tooth. Some of the benefits are:
 |
Traditional
Bridgework - Three Unit Bridge
A three unit bridge replaces a missing tooth with two adjacent
crowns and a false crown all in one piece.
|
Cost
effective:
Because only one tooth is replaced rather than the three teeth of a
bridge, dental implant tooth replacement can actually cost less than
the traditional bridgework.
Tooth-saving:
Dental implants do not sacrifice
the quality of your adjacent teeth like a bridge does because
neighboring teeth are not altered to support the implant. Your own
teeth are left untouched, a significant long-term benefit to your
oral health!
Comfort:
Dental
implants will allow you to once again speak and eat with comfort and
confidence. They are secure and can offer freedom from the
troublesome clicks and wobbles of loose dentures. Say goodbye to
misplaced dentures and messy pastes and glues.
Reliable:
The
success rate for dental implants is highly predictable. They are
considered an excellent option for tooth replacement.

Dental Implant Tooth Replacement |
A dental implant is a
manufactured post that is designed to create a stable foundation for
a natural looking tooth restoration. Placed directly into the
jawbone, a dental implant is the closest thing to your natural
tooth.
There are two parts to a dental implant which simulate the strong
holding ability of the tooth root. The main part of the dental
implant is embedded in the jawbone for an effect that is vastly
stronger than dentures are capable of. The second part of the dental
implant is a post that protrudes above the jawbone and gumline, to
provide a fixed point to attach the tooth restoration that will
simulate the crown.
To replace one tooth, a single post is all that is required. For the
replacement of multiple teeth, it might be necessary to place
several dental implant posts.
We will discuss your treatment needs during your initial
consultation.

Are
there any age limitations for dental implants?
No. Any person at any age can have dental implants
as long as there is enough bone available in which to place the
implants.
Is
dental implant surgery painful?
No. An effective local anesthetic is used during the
surgery so that you do not have any discomfort during the placement
of the implants. The mild discomfort you might experience after
surgery can be controlled with medications.
How much will it
cost and does my insurance cover implant treatment?
The number of
implants that will be placed, the type of prosthesis recommended and
doing a pre-determination of benefits with your insurance company
will determine the cost. This can only be determined after a
thorough consultation and examination by Dr. Gomez. We will
be happy to help you work with your insurance company and provide
payment options that fit your needs. We accept Visa, Mastercard,
American Express and Discover and we are a partner with CareCredit –
a convenient, low minimum monthly payment program specifically
designed to pay for healthcare and elective treatment not covered by
insurance. Please call us 212-207-4020 so we may assist you
with your payment options and answer any concerns Monday, Wednesday,
Thursday, and Friday, 9am – 5pm.
Are my dental
implants going to look like my real teeth?
Yes. Maybe even better! The new
implant teeth will look great as long as you take care of them
properly. Read some of our
